N: New Orleans

This post will be short and sweet, mostly because I forgot to write it and the clock is ticking if I want to publish this on time (whoops). I’ve never visited New Orleans. However, I’m hoping to go there in December on my honeymoon! Here are a few things off my growing to-do list:

1. Jazz Music

The metropolitan heart of Louisiana is known as the birthplace of Jazz! I would love to visit as many jazz clubs as possible on my trip. I’m not sure if you stay for the whole show or just stay for the acts you enjoy but either way listening to jazz music in New Orleans sounds (get it? haha) like a dream.

2. Food

Alright, let’s get serious here. The food is one of the reasons I want to visit this great city. Munching on authentic gumbo and beignets is very appealing.

3. French and Caribbean Culture

New Orleans is well-known for its French and Caribbean flairs. I’m curious to know how many people speak in French or if the street signs are in both languages. Either way, the culture in New Orleans seems very different from any other place I’ve visited in the USA.

What should I add to my New Orleans list? I don’t know much about where to stay or what sites to visit and I could use your help! Put your suggestions in the comments below.

If you have any interest in ghosts, there are ghost tours. The home of Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen, is of historical interest even if you aren’t into the occult aspects of her life. If you’ll be around for Mardi Gras, there are celebrations all over, not just in the French Quarter. Bring an empty backpack and prepare to fill it up with beads! Happy A to Z!

This is so helpful, thank you! I wish we were going during Mardi Gras but it looks like Christmas time is when we’ll be visiting. I’m sure things are extra spooky in the winter!
