I made it! I crossed the finish line! The 2016 Blogging A-to-Z Challenge is complete. Many of you who read my blog can also pat yourselves on the back for a job well done because writing 26 posts in rapid succession is no small undertaking. Here is a recap of the things I’ve learned and can improve upon for next year’s challenge:
“Know thyself”….well I know myself very well and something I excel at is procrastinating. The Blogging A-to-Z Challenge was tough for me. I committed to this year’s challenge a full 2 months in advance and I was still scrambling to write posts towards the end of the month. Next year I have a more realistic idea about when I need to start writing posts (much earlier). The majority of the posts that I did schedule in advance were well-thought out, proof read, and had snazzy pictures, videos, etc. Waking up knowing that day’s post would be on its way in a couple of hours was like weekly meal prepping. Who is this wonderful person that has already prepared my food? Oh right, that was chef Halee a couple of days ago. Such a thinker, that one!
Keep it Simple (and Fun)
When the ideas are flowing its hard to stop them. In many of my posts I could have written two, three, even four times more than I packed in there. However, the more I blab on I risk losing your attention, dear reader. So for your sake I tried to keep the posts simple and focused. This allowed me to have more fun writing about the past (and future) memories I especially wanted to share with you.
Perfection is Not Possible
Now if procrastination wasn’t bad enough, my inner perfectionist had to be let go for this project. If I spent all my energy making sure the desktop, tablet, and smartphone renderings looked the same and were formatted to a T then I would have given up after the first week. It’s tough letting some things slide but I learned that this challenge wasn’t about appearances it was about meaty content.
And last of all, thank you to the people over at Blogging A-to-Z. What an incredible event and community you have created. I had a lot of fun finding new bloggers and reading their content and I look forward to next year’s challenge. Not sure what theme I’ll choose but rest assured I’m already planning for it! Thanks for reading, everyone. 🙂
